You need to take more time in terms of settling the audience into your world - think about establishing shots (how are we to know this is on an island?) Think about how you'll need to show the process of the the eating of the berries more than just once to show the smaller creatures struggling; you'll perhaps need to show some of them on the ground around the trees, starving - something to show the consequence? You have a 3 minute run time - you've got a 1 min 20 seconds to use to your story's advantage. Use it.
